Two-day blackout results in 5 million escudos in losses at Frescomar 12 September 2012
Fish processing plant Frescomar has calculated the losses it sustained as a result of the two-day forced shutdown of its activities on Thursday and Friday, due to the power outages that have affected the Island of São Vicente over the past week, at approximately 5 million escudos.
Frescomar, which lost some 18 hours of potential operating time on Thursday and Friday, September 6 and 7, has estimated the financial loss as a result of the blackouts at 5 million escudos, according to company official Jorge Nascimento.
Frescomar’s production line has been operating at just one-third of capacity due to the serious problems being experienced at water and electricity utility Electra’s São Vicente power station, a situation that has resulted in frequent and prolonged blackouts all over the island over the past week.
