Forecasts indicate plentiful rains for Cape Verde this year 05 July 2012
Conditions are favorable for Cape Verde to have plentiful rains during this year’s wet season, with a likelihood of normal precipitation between the months of July and September. The information comes from the seasonal forecast for West Africa elaborated by various different international weather centers and adapted to Cape Verde by the National Meteorology and Geophysics Institute (INMG).
According to the National Meteorology and Geophysics Institute, data observed on various islands points to the existence of conditions favorable to a humid season, with the probability of normal levels of rainfall. “The probability of rainfall being above average is low, around 20%,” according to the INMG.
However, the Institute also informs that conditions exist for the development of favorable meteorological factors that could contribute toward increasing precipitation, which could possibly allow crops to conclude their vegetative cycles in the presence of satisfactory water conditions.
